Our First Year: July 2006-2007
The Altadena MOMS Club was established in 2006 after sistering from our neighboring MOMS Club of Pasadena-North. The formation of a MOMS Club in Altadena created a smaller more intimate chapter with 30 members, the majority of which live in Altadena.
Our first year was an adventure in creating a new club that, while borrowing a lot from our Pasadena sisters, embraced the unique community of stay-at-home moms who live in Altadena. In that spirit, our board members, with the help and advice of the entire membership, organized monthly activities; began distributing a monthly newsletter; recruited members; and raised funds for the year's charity, Five Acres Children's Home.
We currently boast a membership of 40 At-Home Mothers and their children. The evolution of our club activities established new interest groups, including a hiking club and a book club; recurring monthly gatherings, including Park Day, Mom's Night Out, and member outings to the Huntington Library, Kidspace Museum, and LA Arboretum; and yearly activities like our Open House, Halloween Party, Spring Fling, and Mother's Day Tea.
Every new member strengthens our chapter with her support, her friendship, her insight and experience. We hope you will join us in strengthening our bonds in our second year.
